THE STORY OF CHRIS OLAGUE

BY: ANDRE RAMIREZ

This past weekend I loss my friend Chris Olague who was a local boxing trainer. Chris had the passion for boxing, and loved the sport from inside and out. I met Chris though my dad who is his barber. Chris was a nice guy with a good heart. Chris loved the sport of boxing, and dedicated his life in helping the City of Fresno grow, and build the sport. Chris trained some of the best local fighters, and made a name for himself in the community. One of the best stories I can recall is when Chris asked me if I was interested in meeting Roger Mayweather. I was like heck yeah, but he told me never to bring up the fight against Cesar Chavez. I waited for Chris call, and he came through on a Saturday. He told me to get to the Boxing Gym A.S.A.P because Roger Mayweather just touchdown. I got to the gym in 40 minutes, and Chris introduced me to one of Boxing’s Greatest World Champions! I got to talk to Roger for about 20 minutes, and got some good information about upcoming fights regarding Floyd Mayweather. Rodger even gave me the secret fighter cream so i can train, and be like Floyd, but I was interested in picking his brains. Chris took the famous photo of me, and the champion, and I chilled with Chris, as he showed me around the Gym. Chris will be missed by his friends, and family, and the boxing community. I’m going to miss his insight on the fights, because he has never loss a prediction.
